Forestry mulching is a land-clearing approach utilizing a single machine to grind, cut and clear vegetation. A forestry mulching machine, also known as a forestry mulcher, brush cutter, or masticator, utilizes a rotary drum featuring steel chipper tools to shred vegetation.
Garrett Outdoors deliver the most cost efficient tree and brush-clearing solutions for commercial and industrial lot owners, real estate agents, developers, and utility companies. Our team uses top-notch machinery to cut down trees, weeds and shrubs, combining and grinding removed materials to come up with an all-natural mulch. Once this has been created, forestry mulch can be spread evenly over your chosen area to boost soil fertility.
This technique is great for preventing weeds from growing. Now YOU can control what grows where. Forestry mulching is quickly becoming the industry standard for vegetation management that is both environmentally sustainable and economically efficient.
We only use the industry’s best tools to clear your land, backed by many years of experience in refreshing landscapes. As such, we believe in a conscientious method when it comes to land clearing, using a knowledgeable and experienced crew that works hard to recycle the growth of your land and give it back to the soil. The result? Fresh, fertile land wherever you choose to put your mulch.
Got erosion? Looking for an even field? Lean on our techniques designed to fill the gaps in a healthy manner.
Traditional land-clearing methods boost the risk of erosion. They can push over trees, uproot the stump, and disturb the soil. We know there is a better way. When you mulch, the vegetation leaves the structure of the soil intact, leaving the mulched material on the ground. In effect, this acts as an erosion barrier while giving nutrients back to the soil through the natural process of decomposition. Over time, grass will naturally grow through the mulch, only needing mowing maintenance.
Garrett Outdoors, LLC specializes in tree and brush mulching, providing superior capabilities that offer better time, cost efficiency and physical capability than chainsaws and tractors with brush hogs. Our machines can go where larger equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, and haul trucks can’t — at a much lower cost.
We use the Kubota SVL95-2 skid steer with a Denis Cimaf Forestry Mulcher. This 96 HP machine with 18″ wide rubber tracks and high-flow hydraulics is very powerful and can be maneuvered in a forest environment. The 72″ forestry mulcher head has 27″ high-tensile knives that afford exceptional biomass reduction that is not only fast and efficient, but also the most cost-effective method of clearing trees and brush.
Some of the advantages of forestry mulching include:
- A layer of mulch can suppress weeds and stabilize soil from erosion
- It’s less expensive than traditional land clearing methods
- It does not damage the roots of keeper trees
- Offers instant results and is burnable within four months
The applications for forestry mulching are far-reaching. Here are some of the most common:
- Underbrush removal
- Timber stand improvement
- Right-of-way clearing
- Fire lane and trails creation
- Wildfire fuel mitigation
- Pre-construction site prep
- Post-logging cleanup
